MELF Components
Melf’s are SMD components in cylindrical shape. Their faces are metalized and serve as the contacts. Today, MELF resistors are no longer as popular as they used to be. More common are SMD components in the shape of chips. MELF resistors may offer advantages through their dielectric strength, high pulse load capacity, long time stability and temperature stability. A further advantage, when compared to resistors in chip shape, is the higher power dissipation on account of the larger active surface while maintaining the same component dimensions.
