After last year’s successful event, the second technology seminar “Soldering, Rework and Inspection Technologies” took place on 12th April in Sofia. The focus of the event was on know-how transfer and the latest technological developments. Furthermore the seminar offered the over 50 participants a good opportunity to exchange on the trends of the Bulgarian market, products and applications.

After the warm welcome and the introduction of ERSA Bulgaria Ltd. by Nikolay Momchilov the technology presentation of Ersa Area Sales Manager Christian Ott followed on solder paste printing and reflow soldering. The central topic were the securing of quality aims in an SMD line, the recognition of error patterns and their elimination as well as methods to secure process windows.

Voids can compromise the quality, life span and performance of solder joints. In his lecture Andreas Gladis from Viscom AG offered interesting insights on solder joint inspection concerning the detection of those voids. After lunch that was used by the participants for intensive knowledge exchange and discussions, Horst Geschwentner from ESOLD GmbH & Co.KG lectured on the characteristics and specifics of solder pastes, solder wire and flux. As last speaker of the day, Ersa Area Sales Manager Dietmar Wolpert took over the speaker’s desk. “How does Rework in top quality work?” was the question he dedicated his lecture to. Right after his presentation Dietmar Wolpert showed in a live-demo on the HR 550 hybrid rework station how to put the theory into practice. The participants also took the chance to practice their new knowledge on the HR 550 with their assemblies. “There were awesome conversations and having the chance to exchange knowledge on such a platform is a unique opportunity for our Bulgarian customers,” Christian Ott summarized the outcome of the event.
