Soft Beam Soldering

In soft beam soldering, the radiation source emits in the short wave IR range. Frequently used are halogen bulbs. The infrared light is optically focused and directed at the joint to be soldered. Absorption of the radiation at the solder joint generates the required heat to solder. Diameter of the focal spot is typically between 2 to 3 mm.
