After three intensive exhibition days, the 13th EUROGUSS, Europe´s largest trade fair for die casting, ended yesterday in Nuremberg. It once again offered the trade visitors from the foundry industry a platform for exchanging information on current challenges, new products and innovative process technologies. With SOLUTIONS FOR THE BEST, Kurtz Ersa was able to position itself as a supplier of high-performance machines and clever turnkey concepts.

Even though originally a die-casting trade fair, the visitor interest in low-pressure technology at EUROGUSS was tremendous – controllable low-turbulence filling, clean material, better strength values than with conventional casting processes as well as high dimensional stability and intelligent pressure control with a pressure accuracy of +/-0.01 psi are and remain powerful arguments for low-pressure die casting. There was also strong demand for Kurtz’ high-performance trimming presses in C, column and sliding-tilting table design, which are ideally suited for trimming parts produced with die casting machines. Many customers enquired about technical and performance data of individual machines and asked for integrated automation concepts.

However, the Kurtz POWerBoard, the new Industrial-IoT solution from Kurtz GmbH, was in highest demand. As a dynamic control tool, the Kurtz POWerBoard optimizes the overall process and raises resource and energy efficiency as well as overall equipment effectiveness to a completely new level. The Kurtz Foundry Machines presented various sub-components for this purpose, such as machine monitoring, worldwide downtime tracking, remote service and artificial intelligence modules such as correlation detection.

Lothar Hartmann, General Manager Business Unit Foundry Machines, looks back very positively on the three exhibition days in Nuremberg: “EUROGUSS 2020 has exceeded our expectations. Despite the uncertainties in sectors such as the automotive industry, the Kurtz stand team had their hands full. Every time EUROGUSS offers a fabulous opportunity to exchange ideas with international experts – for example with delegations from Turkey and Korea.” Lothar Hartmann continues: “The Kurtz POWerBoard is a fantastic tool for increasing overall equipment effectiveness. The foundry industry is still in its infancy when it comes to the use of digital solutions. The potential of our IoT solutions towards more automation and production efficiency is huge. The future way is to combine smart handling systems with intelligent software solutions.”
