Kreuzwertheim | With an excellent result, the Kurtz Ersa Group has come a big step closer to its goal of “CO2 neutrality by 2029”. The machine builder was able to increase its score by a full 13 points to 69 points – and, after twice winning bronze, has now been awarded its first silver medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating. All in all, this puts Kurtz Ersa in the top 4% of this year´s overall ESG rating!
To this end, Kurtz Ersa has initiated a number of sustainable measures in the past year – for example in the area of energy efficiency with a large-scale conversion to LEDs, the replacement of two heating systems and energy-efficient window refurbishment. We also made significant progress in generating our own electricity by installing and commissioning three PV systems with 1.5 GWp – 12% of the electricity requirements at the Kreuzwertheim and Wertheim sites are already covered by the company itself. Additional measures in the area of occupational safety and the expansion of sustainability reporting towards increasing internationalization also contributed to the excellent result.
The first silver medal in the ESG rating marks a great milestone on the way to becoming a sustainable, CO2-neutral company. ESG stands for “Environment, Social and Governance” and measures the voluntary contribution of companies to sustainable development over and above legal requirements. In this ESG rating, Kurtz Ersa was up to 31 points above the industry average in all four categories (environment, labor and human rights, ethics, sustainable procurement). Particularly noteworthy: In the “Environment” category, Kurtz Ersa ranks in the top 4% of the rated companies in the industry with a score of 80 points, and even in the top 2% for labor and human rights!
